PlayStation Emulator Now on Android - Tom's Guide Posted: 26 Jul 2010 10:02 AM PDT ZodTTD has released a working PlayStation (One) emulator on the Android Market. Looking for a way to play your old PlayStation favorites on a handheld devices? Android owners are in luck, as a new emulator from ZodTTD has landed on the Android Market over the weekend for $5.99. Although the app doesn't come pre-loaded with the Sony console's BIOS and games, it does appear to function rather well on the faster, high-end Android devices. According to the release notes, the emulator reads formats BIN, ISO, IMG, PBP, Z, ZNX, and Eboot. The app also supports the use of the WiiMote controller, the trackball and the D-pad, scaling modes, virtual control overlays, and more. Users on the go can save instantly and pick back up where they left off later. Naturally not every game will work with this emulator. Performance depends on the actual titles, version of BIOS, and the device hardware. Many users are posting game compatibility issues here in this forum post, indicating that many perform exceptionally well while others simply won't load. As an example, the original Crash Bandicoot is playable but feels somewhat laggy and suffers from sound issues on the Motorola Droid (v2.1). Raiden II and Raiden DX apparently play smooth with sound enabled on the HTC Droid Incredible. But as seen with other emulators (no matter the console), many titles will never work correctly. In addition to the PlayStation emulator, ZodTTD is currently working on a Nintendo 64 emulator for Android and Apple devices.
