However, that's all about to change as Sony Ericsson (who haven't even given us an Android phone as yet) is working on something that is very exciting indeed. Basically, they're making a smartphone that is, the words of engadget, a cross between the Samsung Captivate and the PSP Go. Basically, that means you have a phone that has a D-Pad and PSP buttons and shoulder buttons. The phone is likely to carry PlayStation branding, and those who have seen it think that it looks pretty smart. The games you'll be eventually able to buy will be, graphically-speaking, akin to PSP games, which is great news indeed. This means you can kill people on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on your phone. This phone could be hitting the shelves as early as this October. The iPad Arcade was inspired by the iCade which was "launched" as an April Fools joke by the folks at ThinkGeek. To use the iPad Arcade you'll need to have a jailbroken iPad loaded with a NES, SNES or Playstation emulator and games. The iPad Arcade is hand built and features a joystick, four play buttons, a start and select button. You'll need two AA batteries (not included) to power the Bluetooth interface used to connect the iPad to the iPad Arcade. You can pickup the iPad Arcade on e-Bay. The bidding is currently at £122 ($190 US) and the auction ends August 28. Game on! Gaming on the Android hasn't been great thus far in comparison with iPhone offerings. Unless of course, you count the MegaDrive and SNES emulators which have kept this writer off street corners and out of bother for the past couple of months.
Are you an old school gamer? Love the feel of real buttons as you blast aliens? Then this one of a kind iPad Arcade dock might be right up your alley.
