SNES Emulation Turns Up On 'Hacked' PS3s - TheSixthAxis

The so-called 'Jailbreak' USB dongle might have been out of the mainstream gaming news recently, thanks mainly to some quick intervention from Sony in the shape of recent firmware updates, and whilst piracy still stinks it's remarkable to see some 'proper' homebrew amidst all the nasty goings on starting to bubble to the surface.

Engadget is reporting today (via Slashdot) that a version of Snes9X, the popular Nintendo SNES emulator, has arrived on the PlayStation 3, and although it's somewhat basic version (there's no save states, for example) it is reportedly working.  As is a Dreamcast emulator, although that one in particular looks like it's struggling to even load up the boot GUI.

Still, development indeed, and although TheSixthAxis' stance on the use of any such hacks to circumvent the PS3′s security is clear (it's bad, kids) it'll be interesting to see where all this goes.
