Samsung Galaxy S Is A Beast, Runs Quake 3 Perfectly - Android Police (blog)

So, by now, you've probably already heard that the Samsung Galaxy S is a beast at gaming – it can produce a staggering 90 million triangles per second compared to the Nexus One's 22 million. But that is just one spec, and real world tests are what most people care about. Quake 3 has now been ported to both devices, and it acts as a great test of each device's gaming capabilities.

That's the Nexus One running Quake 3. It runs quite smoothly, without any hiccups. You may be wondering why you would need a more powerful device. Take a look at this video.

In this test, the Samsung Galaxy S destroys the Nexus One. Like GeekWord says, it's "as if it was made for the Super AMOLED handset." Clearly, the numbers are right – this is best Android device for gaming. If Quake 3 isn't your thing, keep in mind that the amount of high quality 3D games in the Android Market is constantly growing. Personally, I can't wait for the day a PlayStation emulator hits the Market. The day I play Final Fantasy VII on my phone is the day we enter the future.

Android PlayStation Emulator Coming Soon - Gadget news and reviews (blog)

Posted: 07 Jun 2010 04:48 AM PDT

Hot on the heels of their iPhone Playstation emulator, ZodTTD have just announced that they will also be bringing their PlayStation emulator to Android devices soon.

News surfaced via ZodTTD's Twitter in which they suggested that the Android version of the emulator runs even faster than the iPhone 3G – even before Froyo's has been factored into it.

ZodTT intends to get to work on a Nintendo 64 emulator, and then a Android version of the ever impressive VLC media software as soon as they have completed work on the Android Playstation emulator.

According to Digital Disbeliever the emulator is currently a bit sluggish and doesn't quite hit the 60FPS sweet spot. Although a speed boost is expected, you will still need to be running a version of Android 2.x and more than likely one of the top of the line Android Devices specs wise.

So does the thought of playing classic PS1 games like Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy 7 from your mis-spent youth excite you? Have your say below…
