The HTC HD2 can play PS1 games, better than the PS1 ever could! - MobileShop.com (blog) Posted: 14 May 2010 02:28 PM PDT The other day, I thought I'd try out some games on my HTC HD2, just to see how good it was at the whole mobile gaming thing. I toyed with the idea of downloading Prince Of Persia HD, for it, just to see what new plateaus mobile gaming has reached. And then, while trawling through Youtube, I found this: Oh dear lord, the HTC HD2 can play PlayStation games! I believe the word I'm looking for, to sum up my feelings accurately, is "meep"… Apparently, it's all done with a PS1 emulator called FpseCE, which lets you simulate a PS1 on your Windows Mobile phone (and it appears it doesn't have to be a WinMo 6.5 phone, either, I've seen video of it running on 6.1 devices, albeit not as smoothly). On the HD2, with a Snapdragon processor, it just flies, looking at the other Youtube vids I've seen. And then I realised why it flies; I did some working out of the relative speeds of the processors in the PS1 and the HD1, and it turns out that HTC's phone is TWENTY-NINE times faster than the original PlayStation. Sure, the PS1 is well over a decade old, but come on, who amongst us would have ever predicted mobile phones would become TWENTY-NINE times as powerful as the PS1??
